After returning from the long weekend, our tamariki gathered at Mat Time excited about being back together again. One of our kaiako asked our little ones about why they think they didn't come to Buckle My Shoe the day before, when they normally come in on a Monday? One child quickly said, "Because it was lockdown". This was definitely a clever answer and reinforced that our little ones are still thinking about lockdown and the concept of being away, but this wasn't the reason this time.

"It was Queen’s Birthday Weekend", our kaiako explained. We printed off some pictures of the Queen and one feature really stood out to the children - the Queen's crown. And so they decided to create their own crowns. Using glue, scissors and special sequins, our little ones created and wore their crowns throughout the day, commemorating the Queen’s Birthday!
