Little Green Thumbs: Carrots and Lessons Galore!
Our little ones just ❤️ to get active in our garden, especially when they can reap what they sow! 🌱✨
It’s such an exciting and fulfilling process to plant tiny seeds in the soil. With lots of love, patience, and—of course—plenty of sun ☀️ and water 💧, we watch those seeds grow into something amazing. Carrots are a big favourite at our centre, and after much anticipation, waiting, and peeking, it was finally time to harvest! 🥕🎉
Taking turns, our little ones were thrilled to unearth beautiful carrots. Naturally, chatter bubbled up about which carrot was the biggest! We lined them up to find our winner—such a fun debate! 🏆🥕 Our kaiako (teacher) sparked curiosity with, 'What can we use these carrots for?' The answers were pure gold: making carrot cake 🎂, feeding bunnies 🐰, or munching them as carrot sticks 🥕.
Gardening and growing veggies are woven into our Buckle My Shoe Curriculum. Through this, our little ones get hands-on experiences that connect them to the real world 🌍. Plus, they gain a deeper understanding of where our food comes from—how cool is that? 🌟
