Teddy Bears Picnic at Buckle My Shoe!

Recently, we had a teddy bears picnic! Our tamariki each brought a very special teddy friend from their home, and we were so excited to meet all of them! Even a very BIG teddy - Christopher, came to visit, and all our tamariki enjoyed the big bear cuddles. We decided to have a Teddy Bear’s Picnic to promote and extend literacy and storytelling with our little ones as they absolutely love reading books and engaging in imaginative play. 😍

We also did some fun teddy activities - reading books about bears and singing songs like "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear" and "Rock-a-bye your bear". Following on from this, we did some arts and crafts and decorated our own bears before getting ready for a scrumptious picnic! 😊

Our picnic morning tea included some yummy fairy bread, delicious sliced fruits, and of course some tiny teddies biscuits! Yum yum! Everyone was so excited to sit down outside and dig in together on picnic mats. 😋

At our teddy bear mat time, we all introduced our special friends. We learned their names and shared what kind of teddy they were and where we got them from. Everyone was really excited! We also played a little game called “Slap Clap”. In this game, we call a name, and the person, (or teddy in this instance) comes into the middle of the circle and shows us a super cool trick! This was so much fun! What talented teddies we all have! 🙌👏😄😊😍

What a fantastic day filled with fun, love, and laughter! We absolutely loved seeing everyone’s special friends, and can’t wait to do this again! 💕
