Tea Party at Buckle My Shoe
Pretend play is a big thing at Buckle My Shoe and our little ones enjoy acting out different scenarios and social roles. After our Teddy Bear picnic, we have noticed more pretend play around tea parties and picnics at the centre so we decided to extend on this by having a real tea party!
One of our wonderful kaiako brought in a special tea set with perfect little teacups for our little ones!
Using a range of different flavoured herbal teas, our tamariki were invited to enjoy the tea party experience. They spent time smelling the tea and guessing which flavours they were before taste-testing them.
We wondered if some of our little ones had been to a tea party before, as they knew how to hold the cup with their pinky sticking out – very fancy! 😊
This experience not only turns the idea of a tea party into reality but is a fun experience to stimulate the senses. Sitting around the table together also encourages conversations and there were many discussions around what they could smell and taste, adding new descriptive words to our little ones’ vocabulary.
