Mask Making at Buckle My Shoe!
It’s always fun using our imaginations, isn’t it? That’s exactly what our little ones love doing on a daily basis at Buckle My Shoe! They take on different characters & roles and enjoy acting out different scenarios. To extend on their interest in pretend play, we set up a mask-making station and invited our little ones to create a character mask of their choosing. 😍
Some chose to use white for their mask, whilst others went with red. Using different coloured markers, they each began adding details to their masks. Some wanted their mask to represent a superhero, whilst others decided they wanted to make a monster, princess or alien mask. During the decoration process, we had conversations about different facial features and how we could represent these on our character masks.
Our little ones were eager to wear their special masks - so using stationary tools such as the hole punch and stapler, they were supported to make holes and attach some elastic. They had to ensure that the eye holes in the mask lined up with their eyes, so that they could see once the masks were on. 🙌
Photo time!!! Once their masks were on, it was like the tamariki at Buckle My Shoe had disappeared and we had a whole group of new characters filling the centre. We took photos of each of our little ones in their masks and they were super excited to see how they looked.
After hours of fun, they took their special masks home and the following day we heard from many families, that these special characters made appearances at home as well! 😊🦸♀️🦸♂️
